I am convinced my school wants to screw over Linguistics Majors

Heaven FORBID we would want to minor in anything. Classes are full, at the same time a ling classes or have to many prereq’s that I would never have time to take. 

Wait til next year and pack all the courses in or beg the professors to let me break the rules?
